October 2024 Player of the Month Vote

Vote from the list below: vote closes on Tuesday evening at 6.25pm

Nominations list:

1. Julian Cash/ Lloyd Glasspool - taking the ATP 500 Japan Open, unseeded. Julian's first title at this level and takes him to a new career high ranking; a welcome return to top tier titles for Lloyd. Well done, lads.

2. Megan Knight - for (age 13) winning the singles and doubles at the J30 in Loughborough. In the singles, she progressed through the draw without losing a set as a WC and beat the top seed in the final. Also reached the final of the J60 event in week 41 at Loughborough, her first at that level of event. AND she won the prestigious TE U14 Monte Carlo Masters event, despite being a year young - the first British player ever to win it.

3. Oli Bonding - aged 17, for getting his first ATP ranking point and therefore his first ranking at a CH of 1936. Also for making the final of the J300 singles in Beijing and winning the doubles (with Roh of Korea) at the same tournament.

4. Olivia Nicholls - for consolidating her position as GB doubles No 1 with a new CH of 38 (also a British women's doubles ranking high this century). This is resulting from a successful trip to China with regular partner Tereza Mihalikova. They reached the QF in Beijing beating the top seeds, Dabrowski WR3 and Routliffe WR2 on the way as well as Pegula (CH=1) and Mohammad. In Wuhan they beat Kenin and Mattek-Sands (CH=1) in reaching the QF. In Hong Kong they reached the SF as #2 seeds.

5. Jo Monday - for winning the singles and doubles titles, unseeded, in the M25 Louisville, and then following up with a second M25 singles title in two weeks at Harlingen, Tx. JoMo then went and added a third straight title in M25 Norman, Ohio, taking his winning streak to 15 matches

6. Sonay Kartal - for winning the W100 in Shrewsbury; RU in W75 in Hamburg to follow and setting a new CH of 82. With no points to defend this year it's likely this will secure her place in the AO main draw.

7. Millie Rajecki/Mimi Xu - for winning doubles at the W100 Shrewsbury in their first time playing together. It is Millie's 2nd doubles title this year and Mimi's 4th - and for both their biggest title to date - and moves them both up over 100 places in the rankings to career highs of 245 and 307 respectively.

8. Jake Fearnley - for coming through qualification for the first time in an ATP250, in Stockholm (and then winning a round in the main draw.) Followed by winning a round in qualification in an ATP500 for the first time in Basel and coming agonisingly close to winning his FQR match as well. Has stayed inside the top 100 since first achieving that milestone, with a couple of new CHs as part of a slow climb up the 90s.

9. Heather Watson - for a great W100 tournament at Shrewsbury , reaching the final with 2 wins over seeds including a highly impressive 6-1 6-1 win over Schmiedlova. A great battle with Sonay in a 5-7 first set but then the contest was over as Heathers leg injury ultimately forced her to retire. Good return to form by Heather and hopefully she recovers in time for BJK Cup next month.

10. Luca Pow - 19 yo, for gaining his first ATP ranking points in some style ( should enter in the top 1200 ) by reaching the Winston-Salem M15 final where he lost a tight 3 setter to fellow Wake Forest collegiate Dhakshineswar Suresh (IND). The day before competing in the M15 he won the ITA Carolina regional doubles by defeating the top seeds to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

11. Scott Watson - born 2010 - for winning the prestigious Tennis Europe Junior Masters U14 event

12. Jodie Burrage - for reaching the semi-finals of the W75 in Glasgow, the first time she's strung several wins together in singles since returning from injury. At the same event, she also won the doubles, with Freya Christie.

13. Anton Matusevich - for winning the M25 in Edgbaston and reaching the final of the M25 in Glasgow the following week.

14. Mika Stojsavljevic - reached the SFs of the World Junior Tour Finals in China, then played in MD R1 of WTA 500 Tokyo, just losing out to Uchijima WR 57. In fact so close to greater success in that in both these losses she served for the match before just losing out in a final.set TB.

15. Jamie Murray - winning the ATP500 in Basle, beating the 1, 2 and 3 seeds along the way with his old time partner, John Peers. This is Jamie's first title at this level or above in more than 6 years! Well done, Jamie!

16. Jack Draper - his first ATP 500 title, in Vienna, following an earlier QF in Tokyo, for 7 wins in the month so far. Followed up with a good run at Paris Masters event, including beating Taylor Fritz (WR 6) and moving up to 14th in the rankings, some c.80 places higher than his year starting position

17. Daniella Britton - 13 years old, won the J60 singles AND doubles title in Finland. Her first ever attempt at J60 level. This adds to the J30 singles title she won earlier in October, making three singles titles in the past 6 weeks.

18 Katie Boulter - For reaching the W250 final in Hong Kong immediately following her run to the W500 semis in Japan. And ending the year in a career high ranking of #23 going into the final.

19. Lloyd Glasspool - winning the ATP 500 title in Tokyo with Julian and then reaching the final of the ATP1000 Paris Indoor with Pavlasek, his first ever 1000 final - as an alternative.

And dont forget to say who you vote for and why! It helps attract others to vote! I think!

Last month we hit a massive 58 votes, with lots of players doing well this month, maybe we can get towards the same levels!

Remember- top 2 qualify for player of the season!

Loads I felt like voting for - Jack, Lloyd, Jake, Sonay, Mika, Katie, Liv.

But I felt winning 3 titles in one month, unbeaten , swung my vote towards JoMo, so Ive gone for him!

Sonay's script has not been updated for her Hamburg W75 RU, which should now take her up to a CH in the mid 80s.

Jack for me. Pity he couldn't get further in the Paris Masters but his super ATP 500 success and CH will do for now.

Perhaps you could have checked. But all good now ( CH may end up a few places lower than 82 but no great importance )

Voted for Jack. Can't not vote for such a strong performance at the highest levels of the game.
