RE: Week 44 - ITF W35 Loughborough, GB - Indoor Hard

Good quality, competitive match between McDonald and Stresnakova. McDonald serving to make it 4-4 in the third set - Stresnakova was the victim of a dreadful line call in her last service game and it briefly looked like it might derail her, she moaned to the umpire about possibly having to 'change her passport' to get better calls.

McDonald now serving for the match 5-4 up...

Ella beats Stresnakova (always seems to be a tough opponent at the GB indoors tournaments) and Millie beats Freya, both in three sets.

So three GB through to the semi final and Ms Barnes now on court.

Didnt Stresnakova along with Malygina dominate the much missed UKPL at one time?

Great results so far today. Can it be a British clean sweep?

Nice to see some other girls getting to the latter part of these events too.

Malygina won in 2022 and 2023. Stresnakova came 4th and 5th.

On a more 'gossipy' note, wasn't Stresnakova going out with Liam Broady at some point, a fair while ago?

Stresnakova was (is?) going out with Julian Cash and Eden Silva was (is?) going out with Broady.

First time I have seen Ms Barnes, since she was a junior. She came to Wirral a couple of times and was very powerful, but lacked movement as a junior.
Watching some of he match today, her movement on the court is much better and the power is still there.
There is a top 500 player there if she can control her emotions.
Not a lot between her and the top seed.

She had her chances - she was a break up in the first and third sets, but not to be today.

Didn't know the first news - thanks smile

I knew the second but Liam's relationship with Stresnakova was a while ago, before Eden, I believe

Katie and Julian met when they both at Oklahoma State together and it seems from social media they were in a relationship while there in 2017 so, it seems very unlikely Katie has ever been with Liam.

Katie reached several week finals but the only week she won was week 1, 2023. I remember her dominating British Tour but looking at the records she won 'just' 3 British Tour titles in 2021. She is a Loughborough alumni so will be familiar with these courts.
