No, don't like that either. Have a sensible calendar with a week between the final week of the tour season and the Finals. Easily achieved if you don't extend all the Masters events to 10 days plus.

It wasnt great from Katie today, but shes had an excellent year, has achieved her objective with a new career high, and after a long time away in Asia I get the feeling she just wants to go home! Hope she has a good rest and comes back fighting in Australia
I haven't been able to watch this week's matches, but curious as to how Katie has been playing compared with say her win in San Diego. Since then she's struggled against Top 50 players away from grass. It's been an amazing 18 months for her, with three WTA titles and a Top 25 ranking, but for me her movement is still an issue at the highest levels of the game. And I don't think she has the confidence she had on court earlier in the year.
Am very aware I am being critical of someone who has had quite an extraordinary rise and a credit to British tennis.

Yes, she has risen to ranking heights I never thought she would, especially midst her illness and injury problems.
Yet, yet, I feel there are issues like movement and consistency, and whisper it, she might be rather overranked.
On balance, of course there remains so much that is positive
I dont follow Katie particularly or womens tennis much (in terms of watching) so this is very much a second hand view. Its always struck me that Katies game is suited to a faster court where she can zip winners and not get involved in long rallies, where movement is perhaps hidden behind being able to dominate on serve and get the opponent out of position quickly.
I think we all see and know a fast court bias and her results in places like Nottingham or San Diego back that up. Maybe her ranking isnt false so much as shored up by doing well on her favoured courts and the trick going towards is to really plunder the fast courts events- of course, the WTA stop top 30 players being too choosy and so that becomes hard for her to achieve, I guess.
