Cracked Rackets interviewed all the quarter-finalists on their Cracked Interviews podcast yesterday.
Here are the takeaways from Jo's interview.
He says yesterday was the best he's played these last 2 weeks. Difficult to miss the grass season (due to injury) and seeing other guys get the opportunities. Thinks his ranking is behind where it would be as a result. In this run of tournaments, struggling by end of the first week playing singles and doubles. Took a couple of days off to recover. Wanted to go back to back last week. His thinking was that would be huge. Wants to go back to back to back this week but no big deal if it doesn't happen. :) He plays Futures with the aim of going deep. Asked about Jake's ranking he says time to get after it. That should be me. Doesn't think he's a different level to Jake. Has played 2 great contests with Jake in the last year. He has high goals and is confident of achieving them but is not putting time pressures on himself. Going back to Knoxville to train ahead of the challenger. He feels confident in that building having lost only 1 match there in his college career and that was in his freshman year. Wants to go deep there. Will play Champaign or Columbus after that. Scaling back doubles in Futures, but will play in Challengers - doubles is extra money and things to be gained from playing doubles although all his goals are in singles.

exciting to see that attitude and ambition! Go for it! and why not - Jake is someone who should be a benchmark.
I know a lot of people say that other British players doing well doesnt act as a motivator or target for our other players, but I think this set of comments by JoMo show that, for some, it does.

The Champaign CHallenger has Jay Clarke, Jack PJ (on a CA) and Henry Searle (on a JA) all into the main draw currently, JoMo isnt showing on the entry lists at all, main draw or qualies - would he need a wildcard to get in? Would he get a wildcard to get in? Or a SE from what he does in Knoxville, if he goes deep as he has ambitions to?
JPJ is more than capable of following Jacob Fearnley and Jomo and fly up the rankings once he has finished college
Yes
But he's also more than capable of ending up stagnating in the 150-350s, like a lot of our other college players
The Jomo story is still the most interesting, in many ways, as he's the guy with no junior record whatsoever, and basically got his place at college on a wing and a prayer
