Jake couldn't quite get over the line, saved 2 match points but not a third. Goes down 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(5)
Altmaier served really well on a fast court. Jake missed a forehand to give up the mini break midway through the tiebreak and that was it. Good effort though, could have gone either way.
Oh well, great that he went for this and hope he has two good final weeks before season end, hell get a few days off now! Silver lining!
Good luck on selling to Jake that getting a few days off is a silver lining, when he's just missed out on an ATP 500 MD qualification on a final set TB, in just his 6th match of this month.
Real pity, so close. But yes hope there is more wins left yet for him to round off a magnificent year.

I mean, look, of course. But hes done so well, and of course hell be disappointed, but when hes got over it, hell surely look forward to see what a chance he has to finish the year on a high. Shame Paris will no doubt not consider a wild card for qualies, dont know if Metz or Belgrade might do, if he fancied it.
And good to see 3 British players in total in semifinals this week at this level - Henry, Neal and Jamie. On the back of Lloyd and Julian winning one a few weeks back.
It may not have been the best British doubles year, overall, but we are still contenders, it seems. And we have one slam title to our credit this year as well.
