Sadly Billy went down in 3 sets. Lets see what happens in the mixed doubles.

Great win. Must be favourites to qualify now. Although this result brings Australia back into it.

Standings with matches, sets and games W-L

GB 1-0 2-1 5-2 37-31
ARG 1-1 3-3 6-7 60-61
AUS 0-1 1-2 2-4 24-29

Argentina are out.

Australia will go through if they win 3-0 or 2-1 5-2

GB will go through if they win or manage a closer 1-2 loss.

Australia would pip GB if they won 3-0 or 2-1 5-2

A closer 1-2 loss and GB would go through on sets.

On assumption Billy wont win, sorry Billy, a straight sets win for Katie would do the job - and that must be within her capability ?

Slightly edited but didn't change the message.Yes, a straight sets win for Katie ( or Billy ) would do the job.

Based on doubles rankings, Australia is still the favorite.

I watched most of Katie's, and she looked just as good as some of her best tennis this season, which was great to seesimple construction of points, mostly her 'a' game but with the odd well-executed drop shot.

Based on singles ranking I would argue that Katie is favourite to win in straight sets which makes us favourites.

I was forgetting earlier that there are best RU spots in the QFs ( i.e. best RU from the 3 Sydney groups and best RU from the 3 Perth groups ).

But let's just win our group anyway.

The WTA rankings display has caught you out SC. Perez also has a doubles ranking of 13.
