Wake Forest will be pleased that they have 2 of their own in the final. No doubt playing on their home courts and with the home support behind them has helped Luca and DK.

Any tips based on college play as to who might come out on top in the final?

Yes, I'd been following Colette Lewis' reports, as well as yours here, and it's great that the home players have done so well (there was other Wake Forest interest too)

It'll be mega upbeat there, for everyone, even if Luca loses smile

DK was No. 2 for Wake Forest last season and Luca was their No. 5, so on that basis DK should be favourite. But Wake Forest's strength last season was the bottom half of their order and their weakness the top half so the gap between 2 and 5 isn't as great as it would be at other colleges and I think I remember reading somewhere that their recruiting strategy is to have a roster more equal in ability than compared with most other colleges. With a 17-0 record at positions 3, 4 and 5 (nearly all at 5) last season, it's clear Luca could have played higher up the order. Luca also has the incentive to make a point to the coaches by claiming the title that he deserves a higher position in the team. In short, DK should win but I think it will be close.

And Im sure it will be a match both want to win, for careers and also for bragging rights. Should be interesting. Thanks Lambda

Sadly, not to be for Luca.  Couldn't quite get over the line in spite of serving for it at 5-4:

Final:  Dhakshineswar Suresh (IND) WR 979 defeated (WC) Luca Pow UNR by 6-3 6-7(4) 7-5  hmm
