Week 42 - ITF M25 - Edgbaston, Great Britain (indoor hard)

Quite surprised that Anton won that, he's not really pushed on the last couple of years.

Just to note Charlie Swaine is off to play US college tennis from autumn 2025 having verbally committed to University of South Carolina, whose alumni includes Paul Jubb, Toby Samuel and James Story.

He's beginning his late run to sneak into the year end GB top 10

Yes he's been grinding away, mostly on the clay circuit, without getting the wins he must have hoped for. But fair play to him that he is working away, more than I thought he might at one stage, and I wonder if playing a real long game in developing his game on clay. Hope he can now push on in the next year or two

And Anton's the :

Final:  (4) Anton Matusevich WR 457 defeated (JE/8) Federico Bondioli (ITA) WR 684 by 6-2 3-6 7-5

He nearly blew it after serving for it at 5-3!

What a lovely win for Anton

SO SO much shouting from both sides (glad there were no other matches going on on any other courts - you could hear the two of them from down the street )

But they both played very well - a great contest

Got it on the 4th match point, otherwise it would have gone to a tie break.

Good to see my fave back in the winners circle. He needs to do more with his talent.

Great to see Anton win a title. Hoping to see him keep on moving up the rankings now.

I'm a fan too. I think Anton is naturally quite an exuberant person hopefully he'll be a late bloomer as he learns to control that a bit more on court

Yes I've often wondered what he is saying in a non-English language and whether he gets away with saying things that other players wouldn't get away with biggrin
