RE: Week 42 - ITF W100 Shrewsbury, Great Britain - Indoor Hard

LTR (the app) is missing lots of players outside of the top 950, mainly those with between 10 and 17 points.

Only saw the first set of Ranah's match.
Ranah's was serving really well and her groundshots were very good.
Pasek had a medical timeout at 5-1 and despite a wobble serving it out, she did so in the end

She seems to be in good form, so a nice draw would be very helpful.

Emma lost 7-5 in the third after a a couple of pretty unwise shots while serving to stay in it.

Laboutkova has a very languid, lefty, Schnyder-ish style that was sometimes catching Emma off balance. Emma had the weightier shot but a bit too flat footed with her movement sometimes.

Emma lost a very even match 7-5 in the third.
Emma was a bit lucky in the second set tie break coming from 4-0 down and winning it on a net cord.
Emma went 4-2 down in the third and then broke back and was serving really well until a poor service game at the end.

When Emma is on her game, she is quite a handful. She has a big serve, but her ground shots and inconsistent and ungainly at times.

Maddy & Beth seem to mix it up, otherwise not too many surprises. Holly & Ella and Millie & Mimi might be dark horses.

No Emily Appleton? Focusing on China next week

Beth and Mimi won a title just two weeks ago, but that appears to have been a one-off pairing. Beth and Freya have won plenty of titles, but not together. And no doubles for Emily Appleton this week

Yes, she has really whippy shots, they're not the prettiest but her timing is good and she has a way of really catching her opponent by surprise - those inside out forehands that she wrist and forearms are very effective

I only saw from midway through the third set - it was terribly close - Emma gave the crowd a lot to cheer - it was a real shame she didn't quite manage to at least force a tiebreak
