Mimi non committal on doubles in Glasgow. Will it be Millie, Beth or will it be Hannah. Just something she said about their friendship after the match interview just made me wonder if she will be playing with Hannah. That would be nice.

Aaah thanks Lambda. Must be tough beating your friend, but suppose when Mimi is on court it is a professional game. She must be a red hot pick for doubles moving forward at ITF level if she continues this form. Will be so interesting to see who she settles with. GB or international. Exciting times for our youngsters.

I read something about Sonay thinking she benefitted from strong mental strength. Certainly she seems a very good matchplayer at the sharp end of sets.

Sonay wins!

Heather unfortunately retired at 7-5, 4-1 down

Hope Hev is OK for Spain?

With recent injury doubts for Emma, Harriet and Hev I wouldn't be surprised to see Sonay in Spain.

Hev is in the main draw for the W100 in Spain, so hopefully she is OK.

I read that Sonay has only 44 points to defend until May 2025, so this is a real opportunity to climb the rankings.

As far as I'm aware Sonay is ineligible to play any ITF this week by being accepted into the Mexico 125 main draw, which she has now withdrawn from.

Pretty cool that we are now have a higher-ranked top four than Spain, Germany, Romania, Australia and Italy :)

And... the same number of top-95 players as France ;P

In the ITF article on the event, Heather has said she was carrying the injury all week.

https://www.itftennis.com/en/news-and-media/articles/seventh-heaven-kartal-continues-fine-season-at-w100-shrewsbury/

Watson, who said she was upset that she had to retire, added: "Its the top of my calf muscle behind my knee. Ive actually been carrying it the whole week, and also a quad, but today in the second game of the second set, I felt it go.

I tried to carry on. I wasnt sure if I hurt it worse, but then as each point went by after that I realised that I had done something to it and it was hindering me and I couldnt move, and I felt it every step I took.

Yes, Sonay at WR 92 means another new highest ranking we have had for a GB #4 this century.
