The doubles matches seem to be starting very late today!

Just the one on the schedule, timed as not before 15:30 following the four singles matches. That was pretty optimistic wasn't it  biggrin

Yes, but that time is just a backstop, in case of retirements etc

The doubles isn't late - everyone can see from the other matches when it's coming - there's been no hold-ups

Didnt mean it was late in terms of schedule, more it seems late in the day for this type of event!

Well, it's about dinner time now and they're all wrapped up - perfect timing, I'd call it biggrin

And what a match - absolutely perfect play - really inspiring - and they looked to be having fun too

6-0 6-1

The doubles rankings are going to be interesting next week (not including Maia in this assessment). Millie is the one hard done by - only up 53 places according to Coric live rankings. As for Ranah and Hannah the climb in rankings is measured in hundreds, not tens.

A very interesting set of semifinals: two big hitters (Dodin, Waltert) versus a couple of counter punchers (Kartal, Watson).

Although Waltert was a point or two away losing to Emily Appleton.

Shrewsbury is always a great tournament for players and spectators alike. They schedule more matches on the Centre Court with spectators leaving work in mind. Similarly the dubs semis are split so that there are extra matches to watch at the weekend. By far Britain's best ITF!

It has been a good tournament for Mimi and a great first set against Sonay was tough, but amazing experience. I think we all knew Mimi wasnt in the least flaky, standing at around 440 now in live rankings, around 20 to break into 300s. With Mika and Hannah now down in the 600s, but Mika doing well in Chengdu. Mimis double ranking again rising to around 388, just behind Mirra in the global under 18s. Cant help thinking is she still with Emma Raducanus old coach, who guided her through this stage in her career?. If so he is absolute gold dust.

I remember around this tkme last season, Minis coach was on here and exchanged some messages with CD and others. I cant recall his name or whether he is still her coach now? Shed done well in this event or another one around this time on the itf circuit ?

That was Matt James I think - don't know if he is still her coach.

Apparently Matt James has recently become Jodie's coach. The camera panned to him during Jodie's match vs Sonay and the commentator passed on that info

Hev took her first matchpoint on the Swiss serve, to avoid the need to serve for the match

SF:- Heather Watson (GBR) WR157 def Simona Waltert (SUI) WR214 6-3 3-6 6-2
