As said before, I was never a real fan of Jack PJ as a youngster - I sort of felt the LTA went a bit over the top about him, and I couldn't quite see it (Toby Samuel was another in that category, as was Finn Bass, although that was more obvious, tbh)
Others (such as Jake F) were far easier to like, even if he wasn't absolute top dog for the LTA, but he was still relatively mainstream too
And then there were some of the 'outsider' ones - and Max Basing was one of those, never really in the mix, never had a great junior ITF, but there was a lot to like in his game
Three breaks of serve at the start of the second, a ball violation warning to Jack PJ, and then the set was far more one-sided, with Max making more mistakes, and Jack with maybe the umpire to thank for buckling down to the fight
And Jack continues to be a very frustrating player to support
Suddenly several complete UEs gives away the first break
Then a fault, and then two DFs one after the other, makes it 0-40, he smashes his racket, second warning, gets a point deducted, so now it's game and he's 0-3 down
And Max isn't playing brilliantly (his volleys, bless, are pretty dire and he can't make up his mind whether to wait for the error or actually play)
