Weeks 40 & 41- ATP Masters 1000 - Shanghai, China (hard) - DOUBLES

Sufficient Brit interest to justify a separate thread, I think.

L32:  (WC) Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 91 (37+54) vs Ugo Humbert & Adrian Mannarino (FRA/FRA) CR 1220 (357+863)

L32:  Adam Pavlasek & Jean-Julien Rojer (CZE/NED) CR 87 (45+42) vs (6) Harri Heliövaara (FIN) & Henry Patten CR 31 (15+16)

L32:  Karen Khachanov & Andrey Rublev (***/***) CR 310 (114+196) vs (7) Neal Skupski & Michael Venus (NZL) CR 40 (22+18)

L32:  Julian Cash & Lloyd Glasspool CR 70 (32+38) vs (3) Matthew Ebden (AUS) & Joe Salisbury CR 17 (5+12)  hmm

Sorry, I hadnt spotted there was a separate thread and had commented on the Neal result in the singles thread! Ooops!

Looking at the rankings forecasts, Joe is about to see a big drop off of points, and fall to around the same place as Julian and Lloyd ie 30s. Neal is 1000 points behind Henry on the 5 week out forecast and Henry also has the tour finals to come. It would take a pretty big effort for anyone other than Henry to be British number one at season end in a few weeks time

They dont seem to be making much progress in Shanghai, with doubles certainly, rain seems to be getting in the way each day. Today is sunny though and Joe/Lloyd/Julian are on court and underway

Julian and Lloyd beat Joe and Matt Ebden in 2 tiebreaks.

Jamie and John Peers won 2 and 0 against Humbert and Mannarino, well done!

But Henry and Harri H are a set down against Rojer and Pavlasek

And Henry and Harri went down 4 and 2, slightly disappointing result.

Leaves Julian/Lloyd and Jamie/John as our remaining pairs into the last 16.

Well, Julian and Lloyd did for them in Tokyo, so another opportunity to get a good result and move into the last 8.

Jamie and John have a tough one, though!

Julian and Lloyd underway. Feels like this could be an important one to win.

Anyone know if they plan to stick together? Whos that guy, Calvin, who coaches Luke and Henry, any commentary from him or Harri on doubles pairs comings and goings?

Doesn't seem to be very much love lost between Julian and Robert! Hopefully Julian and Lloyd are looking at being a long term partnership (maybe until Aus open to see how things go?) that's the impression I got when Lloyd signed the camera with "Just the start" when they had won in Tokyo.

That would be good if so. This one is tight, lost the opening set on a tie break

I can't believe no one has yet posted on Jamie and John's magnificent win over the top seeds 67 64 10-6.
