Just looking on the WTA live rankings for U18 doubles and Mimi is currently 6th. 580 on the full senior rankings. Not bad for the just turned 17 year old. Will be very interesting to see who Mimi forms a longer term partnership with.
Though surely singles will be very much her priority for the foreseeable future ( indeed for many years ) so any regular doubles partnership would then depend on having similar tournament itineraries.
Yes agree singles will be Mimis priority but some of the top women players have taken a different journey, more like BjK et al. Thinking of Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula and Jasmine Paolini. Amongst others. A couple of double specialists have also picked up slams, so maybe they think doubles complements their game in singles? I dont know but I can think of a few players who might have benefited from playing a bit more doubles.
Mimi the best player on court by a mile. Served pretty much perfectly.
Ella and her partner tried to keep the ball off Mimis racquet, but at the net she was still stealing. Almost a perfect match. Another W35 doubles for Mimi so a nice birthday present for her. Well done to Beth as well, she took a lot of the pressure.
