The final age group European Championships takes place this week in Italy with Mark Ceban and Freya Peet amongst the seeds. Top seeds are Flynn Thomas (the Swiss boy who lost out to Charlie Robertson in the US Open quarters) and Charo Esquiva Banuls (WTA 943) who has had many battles with our top 3 juniors (Mika and Hannah were eligible, but neither are here).
Also this seems a winnable tournament for Mark imo. He is one of the top seeds and has had a lot of time practicing on clay recently. it seems he has opted to continue on this surface as he is entered in to other clay court ITFs in the coming weeks after this. He is trying to base his game on Zverev who has reached near the top (and his best surface is clay). And Mark is already well suited to grass and hard court too . Maybe he is looking ahead to try and be accomplished on all 3 surfaces from a younger age so its easier when he is older? Anyway I'll stop rambling :)
Also like Moise Kouame has done (who is another top prospect 15 year old) he could have entered J500 Osaka but i think Mark would have had to qualify so perhaps worth sticking to the clay court plan.
And I guess what I'm wondering is why Mark chose this route?

A very easy win for Mark today, but he and Tegan face strong opponents tomorrow. Mark faces a Spaniard who has won 3 successive J100 events in Barcelona, while Tegan's opponent Luna Vujovic won both Wimbledon and the European Championships under 14 last year, and has reached 2 W15 finals this year
Boys R3
(5) Mark Ceban d. Leonardo Ljubicic (MON) 6-0 6-0
(3) Jan Sadzik (POL) d. Rhys Lawlor 6-3 6-1
Luna also won a J200 in Egypt and was runner-up in the second J200 in Egypt a couple of weeks ago - that's a tough ask - but Tegan has an atypical game - maybe it'll cause Luna some issues

Unsurprisingly Leonardo Ljubicic is the son of Ivan.
