Another well supported French challenger looking at the crowd on the stream. Solid build up light show and music. Would put some ATP250s to shame.

Yeah also makes me wish the UK had more challengers of this grade

Interesting use of a challenge by Jake. His 1st serve is called in but the return catches the net drops in. So he challenges the call of his own serve being in!Challenge was not successful however.

I'm also impressed that they have Hawkeye available at a Challenger event.

The French do love their tennis, and a final - that's free - on a Sunday, with a French guy playing - is going to be really popular

And the FFT support it with all the trimmings, as do quite a lot of local sponsors

Yes, I was thinking it would be about much more than just holding such tournaments but truly trying to make them events, selling the sport, which is not something the LTA are notable for.

Yes, the Frencjh love tennis more to start with. Almost all the more reason for the LTA to combine with others to highlight and sell our events.

I can't think of another country other than France who consistently is able to attract crowds to lower tier events.

Back on court, and having won the first set 6-3, Jake played a horrible service game to trail 0-2 in the second but broke back immediately. He has a really calmness on court.

Loved that last break point from Jake in the third game of the second set. Do the French have a lower ticket price point for their challenger events? Having said that this is a professional set up compared to what we seem to be able to offer.

OK - nice of Jake to give the French crowd something to cheer about - but time to cut the nonsense now

That was a bit painful to watch for the last few games, but well done, Jake, for toughing it out and getting the win.

And in to the top 100 as well. smile
