Week 38 - ATP Challenger 75 - Columbus, OH, USA (indoor hard)

Kyle broken when serving for the match. Darn it.

I know ! I feel your pain - he has three BPs early in the second set - and missed them without doing too much wrong
But then got another break right at the last minute
And didn't serve it out - despite playing one super point to save the first BP

L32:  (Q) Kyle Edmund WR 417 defeated (4) JJ Wolf (USA) WR 170 by 6-1 7-6(4)  biggrin

His first big win for a while, I think.

That DF at deuce in that game where he was broken was horrible.

You can breathe again, Bob

Wolf was playing SO wildly for much of that set, and much of the tie-break, the balls were going anywhere but in the court - but he kept coming back from the brink - and Kyle was a bit tight, as one can expect

He did well to get that done in two - not sure he'd have won a third

But I didn't watch that one (partly because I'm a fan of Dom Stricker too)

And also coz Kyle took up all the nervous enery I had for one night

Excellent to see Kyle getting a few wins again this week. 2nd top 200 win of the season, last one was in Hamburg back in March.

Interestingly, tennis abstract had rated Kyle favourite before the match - I personally thought he had little chance - so they saw something I didnt!

They also rate Kyle and Stricker as effectively even, Kyle a very small favourite according to Tennis Abstract

Isn't it just though what their algorithms predict?

So is their "favourite" not purely based on how these have been set up and feed in the numbers? They are not making any further subjective judgements?
