That'll help their rankings nicely. Soumeya currently has 33 points, so 27 for this win is going to lift her over 200 places according to Coric

Their next opponents may be the top seeds, who play their first match later today.

 That looks a tough match for Fran. Petra was Junior No. 1 when she had just turned 16 and a Women's career high of 132 when she was still 17.

 I see that she only played 2 matches before mid May this year, so in part explaining her ranking dropping down again. Was RU in the Montreux WTA 125 last week so looking in pretty decent form. Yes, does look a tough one.

Hannah K did thump her 6-2 6-2 in QR1 at Wimbledon this year but that appears to be her one and only ever grass court match as a senior, so not really much to take from that.

Fran takes the first set 7-5.

Having twice been broken back immediately after breaking, it was threatened for a 3rd time at *6-5 15-40 but she saw it out.
