Back playing - Sonay 4-0 biggrin - delay might have been for the Ukranian - who is certainly off the boil.

7-5, 6-2 Sonay . She is having a fantastic week and, I'm predicting this now, on current form she could quite easily be in the top 100 by AO meaning direct entry there .

That's her now up to 123 in rankings, only 104pts of the Top 100 so it's certainly doable to be in the main draw in Melbourne

Sonay breaks back and eventually serves out for the win 7-6 6-2. biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

After being nip and tuck in the first set it then seemed to get more difficult for both but Sonay coped better.

If she does I certainly don't think she'll deserve the cane wink

Yes, super to see.

Having been out for a few months, she has a big window to improve her ranking in the first half of next year. All the better if she was to start that off already in the too 100.

She talked about just playing at all this year being a bonus, it's proving quite a bonus.

Its worth noting that Sonay has achieved her live ranking without a full complement of counters - just 15 of the 18 allowed. She has a mean average of 40 points a tournament which ranking players on the mean average of counting counters would rank her 110; ranking on the mean average of all tournaments played would rank Sonay 73.

Of course, many of her points have come from winning W35s. Now her ranking prohibits her from playing W35s its going to get a little harder to maintain that points average. It'll be interesting to see her scheduling going forward.

Yep, moving up from these W35s is looking like a tough ask for her

Looking at such as Wimbledon and here, she might just do OK.

As you say, been so good from.less than the maximum counters - so rather than being a best 18 of whatever,  just 15 and counting a few less than 10 pointers.
