Priesty. What was that you were saying. I always thought she could do this even after first set.

At least Priesty commented during the match

Always good to hear how folk think it's going, especially for others who are not watching.

Saw the last few games (main event on SkySports). Sonay kept the bal in play very well and Christian made the errors eventually. Looked to be pretty windy - not surprising since it is by the coast and early evening.

Elise Mertens starts her threepeat attempt with a 2 & 0 win. Looks in fine form, and coping well with the wind (which seems to have increased over the last hour)

Any chance Sonay could make direct entry for the Australian Open?

It's possible, given relatively few points to drop, but still prrobably needs to find rather more than another 200 by MD entry date.

As Priesty says, with her 48 points earned here so far, she is live ranked 137 on 534 points.

She only has 68 points to drop for the rest of the year ( all on 23/09 ) so net will have a minimum of 534 - 68 = 466 points for AO entry.

As a possible guideline, the current live ranked 100 is on 706 points.  A round or two further this week would certainly help ( the title would virtually do it, though that might be rather pushing it! )

With her time off during the first half of this year she has very little due off before May next year, so there looks much more chance of French Open direct entry.

Yikes didnt see the match but thats one Id have thought Alicia and Isabelle should have won Alicia seems to have struggled to find a partnership that works post-Liv. Not sure shes won many matches this year.

I watched most of the match (missed the start and a couple of games in the middle). I know it was windy, but the serving was a bit too conservative and all the players served double faults. Lissey and Isabelle made a number of errors and failed to put away a few easy balls. I'm not sure why Lissey is struggling with partners at the moment - a few good wins against the weaker opposition, but it just doesn't seem to work when the going gets tougher. I saw Lissey and Liv play together at Surbiton last year, and Lissey and Freya this year. Liv has progressed but Lissey isn't the same player for some reason - possible her comfidence has dropped a little.
