You must be very proud, Bob!

Gutted I couldn't see it.  Even more gutted I couldn't be there.  But, you're right.  Feeling good right now.

First set in the bag for Billy by 6-4.  If he can but hold on, there'll be no need for Dan to take to the court again in the doubles...

Got that round my neck a bit:  the doubles will, of course, still be played.

Don't quite understand why the doubles is still played, presume for final tally of games and sets won perhaps?

Yes, to potentially act as a tiebreaker if teams end up equal on ties won.

The qualification for the QF in Malaga is the top 2 in the group.

Virtanen lost his game and belief until late in the second, rising from the ashes, only to plumet again in the tie breaker. Well done Billy, rock steady nerves or so it seemed given the stage and Virtanen's resurgence at the close.

No.  But if I stood on my front terrace, I could hear the cheers smile

Yep, with Canada winning 2-1 over Argentina yesterday and Finland being weakest in the group, a 3-0 win will be handy. Of course, if we beat Argentina and Canada beat Finland, then rubbers, sets and games countback wont matter as GB and Canada play each other in the final round and would, if we both win again, be certain of going to Malaga. The winner of the H2H tie will take top space which, I believe, impacts seeding in the Malaga finals.

But for now, we cant count on that, so at this stage each rubber could be important. That is why Finland have put Virtanen in with Harri, they obviously want to win the match and give themselves some more hope going into their second tie, which is tomorrow with Canada.

Both pairs taking it seriously for sure, and its proving very evenly matched as it looked on paper

And Britain end up winning 2-1, as Finland win the doubles 7/6 7/5.

We have a days rest and then Argentina. I think we will need Jack to be our top string player. But who to choose out of Billy and Dan, and would Leon stick with Neal and Dan? I think if hes got intent to pair Neal with Henry, hed have put them into action today to get time on court together. And with Billy probably playing better than Dan today, Id lead off with Billy, Jack play the first string match and then likely he will stick with Evo and Neal for doubles.
