Sadly Charpentier again won 4 points in a row and has held for 5-3. That's 2 games now in this set in which Alex has failed to capitalise on being 0-30 up.
Hopefully he can break next game if Charpentier gets a little tight as in set 1.

I agree with you, that definately irritates me about the LTA, all the bad publicity they've given Alex over the years. Whenever they're criticised for not producing more top players, they also manage to use it as an excuse to slag Alex off and use him as a scapegoat. Considering the amount of times they've labelled him as "an example of what is bad about British tennis" it's amazing that he is where he is in the world. If he was like Murray, they'd just criticise him for being immature ! Different players find different ways of getting themselves pumped up on court, for some, getting really wound up on court doesn't work - the LTA need to recognise that.
your right, when (not if) he makes it big they will probably say he is like federer never giving your oppoent any sign
dowesnt look like it will happen this set tho.

Gutsy stuff from Alex, saves the set point for deuce and he now has a point for 4-5.
Deuce 2....
I remember that win over Norman. That was in Feb 2003, Alex had returned from DC action against Australia and he reached the Wrexham quarters beating Norman 7-6, 6-4. That was quite an upset as Boggo was outside the top 500 and Norman was ranked something like 115.
That was the year when he reached the Surbiton final and did well at Queens and Nottingham

Really gutsy stuff from Alex, saving 3 set points to hold for 4-5.
Hopefully Charpentier will tighten up now as he's in the same position as in set 1 and he didn't serve it out then and he's already missed 3 sps in this set
