Alex's match is 5th up on court 6.


currently they are in the 2nd match but play is suspeneded, i guess due to rain. on a side note i was in paris this time last year (not to watch rg tho) and it rained a lot!


Could be an upredictable match, the gulf in rankings would suggest this sould be a routine win for alex, and probably on any other surface it would, but possibly Charpentier's clay game may be good enough to trouble Alex. There were also worrying signs from alex's 1st round match, in what started with al breezing through the opening 4 games, barely dropping a point to almost every game there after going to duece and with Al needing serveral oppounities to close out the 1st set.


Having said that, with a clay win under his belt and that match practice hopefuly al will be stronger today. he must realise this is a great opporutinty for him to make the MD of a slam for the 2nd time by right, and in the process help push his ranking up, and stake a unmistakleable claim for the grass wc's coming up.

He'll earn some cash if he wins as well, over £4K!!   Its going to be a lucrative six weeks for Alex, if he doesn't win another match beween now and the end of the grass court seaon, he'll still have picked up over £16K in prize money.  Hopefully he'll win the odd match though....

Personally, I'm hoping that play is a little delayed so I can follow the match. I've got an exam from 1.30-3.00 this afternoon and with only 3 matches to go before Alex, it looks likely that I may miss a good bit of the match. Estimating that all 3 women's matches take 1h15min, I'm likely to miss the 1st set of Boggo's match so I would be quite pleased if the heavens opened just for an extra 30min sometime between now and 3pm.

It looks like I'll miss Keothavong's match but hopefully I can catch Bally.

Charpentier is a leftie and has a lot of flair. He hit a lot of winners in rd1 but his opponent [Vahaly] was pretty poor.

Charpentier's form hasn't been anything special since he returned to action in March this year. The best he's done is a futures quarter-final. Alex should win, this is a really great chance for him to qualify. Also, if he wins he'll be on Eurosport so some of us will get to see him in action before Queens.

The grass wcs have already been released, I'm trying to find out who's got them.
