August PoM vote - 19 players this time. You know the drill. have a vote and then tell us who you voted for and why - you dont need to, but it makes more interesting for us all!
VOTE WILL CLOSE AT 9.50 PM TUESDAY 27th AUGUST
Nominations - sorry if the font looks big below, the cut and paste sometimes does weird things on my phone!
1. Andy Murray and Dan Evans - For bringing Andys fantastic career to an end in style. 2 great come from behind wins including that come back from 4-9 down in the first round match tiebreak. Fighting spirit that epitomised Andys entire career. Would have been nice for them to get a medal but Fritz and Paul was always likely to be a match too far. But Andys reaction after the 2 wins showed how much this meant to him.
2. Emma Raducanu - for staying strong and sticking with what she knew was best for her. She has already reached the quarters in Washington and her ranking is speeding up in the right direction. She will no longer need wildcards for most tournaments, and on top of which it's a pleasure to watch her play so tenaciously and with glimpses off her star qualities to thrill us,
3. George Loffhagen - for winning the title in Roehampton - beat the top seed and two other seeds in the process.
4. Rosie Cho - born 2010 - for winning the J30 singles title in Bradfield
5. Girls U16 European Summer Cup Team - who won the event - the first time ever for GBR - Hannah Klugman, Mika Stojsavljevic and Hollie Smart
6. Jacob Fearnley - for winning the Lincoln 75 challenger, including beating top seed Chris Eubanks, and entering the top 200 for the first time, reaching a CH ranking of 160 in the middle of the month. The win in Lincoln was his second Challenger trophy in his career and in 2024.
7. Sonay Kartal for winning back to back W35s in Roehampton. Then reaching the FQR of the US Open. Thus aiding her in reaching a new career high ranking of 161 as of 26/8 with her US Open points still to ad,d, having started the month at a WR/CH 191.
8. Annabel Wong - born 2010 - for winning the J30 singles title at Bradfield 2
9. Alice Gillan for winning the W15 in Dublin. Only her second career title (first in 2019). Up 66 places to a new CH of WR645.
10. Sophie Buzzigoli - for winning the J30 title in St Vincents. Sophie is only JR 2974, has not been a high-flyer previously in GB tennis, but she won the title, defeating the 2nd seed, over 1000 places higher ranked than her, Thea Latak (USA) JR 884 4-6 7-6(2) 6-2
11. Mimi Xu - still only 16 for winning both the womens singles and doubles titles at the W35 Aldershot. Moves Mimi higher up the WTA rankings to a new CH of WR596 and consolidating her excellent form. Also achieving this after sitting her Math A Level 2 years early. Is there no end to her talents?
12. Harriet Dart - for taking the opportunity to team up with Ellen Perez in Cincinnati (in Nicole Melichar's absence) and reaching the semi-finals only losing to the eventual winners. On the way they beat Hsieh/Mertens CR9 #2 before beating Liv and Tereza in the QF. That run earned her 390 ranking points and a jump in live rankings of 28 places to WR67.
13. Ben Gusic-Wan - for getting his first ATP singles point and first ATP ranking, age 16.
14. Katie Boulter/Heather Watson - for becoming the first British pair to reach the Olympic women's doubles quarterfinals in 28 years. Watson was competing in her fourth Olympics to become Britain's most decorated Olympic female tennis player.
15. Jack Pinnington Jones for winning the M25 at Aldershot without dropping a set.
16. Brooke Black - for getting her third WTA counter and therefore first WTA ranking, age 16.
17. Jan Choinski - for qualifying for the US Open - only British qualifier, he beat three much higher ranked opponents to qualify. It is also the first non British slam he will play the main draw in, a first for him to look forward to.
18. Olivia Nichols - reaching the GB no 1 in doubles and equalling her CH of WR57 set in June. A new CH will be set in the next rankings after she and her (now) regular partner Tereza Mihalikova are continuing their good run of results - reaching the SF in the W500 at Monterey and gaining 195 points.
19. Charlie Robertson - continuing his promising year by reaching the singles and doubles finals at the pre-US Open J300 event at College Park.

There are so many I could choose from this month - the girls team, Jake, Sonay, Mimi, Jan and Liv all stand out for me.
I think though, this month, Im going to vote for Jan - first time hes qualified for the US Open and was our only qualifier this year - and he is someone that is really under estimated in British tennis. Not well known, probably because he wasnt initially a Brit, and yet once reached close to the top 100. Maybe this will start him off again.
Jon has named all the players who stand out for me, too. I'd add that Andy and Dan were the most entertaining players of the month for me: those were a fun few days. But I don't think they deserve a vote over the others with stronger tennis achievements this month.
And I'm also going for Jan. We can see from how few GB qualifiers we've had how hard it is to qualify in a slam, so that really is a great achievement. One that will hopefully give Jan some momentum after he's struggled a bit and dropped in the rankings this year.

Have voted for Jake Fearnley. A tremendous effort to capture his first Challenger title overseas, and continue his rapid rate of growth. From a strong college player to a potential Top 100 player. Was unlucky to be injured at US Open qualifying.
Yes, Jake for much of the month was going to get my vote, so Im pleased youve voted for him; Sonay took over for me and might have got it if shed qualified for the US. Thin margins this month!
I think Im correct, Jake has been runner up in PoM vote the past two months (or tied runner up). Twice the bridesmaid, time to be the bride? (Or best man and groom).
Another vote for Jan, of all the Men in US Open qualifying he was the one that I didn't see getting past the 1st round (obviously the all brit tie was going to see one out but could have been either) so I'm going with him.
Honourable mention to Mimi. She would have got my vote otherwise.
On the basis of trying to be a little more hands off, we are 12 hours into a 48 hour vote. Ill do another reminder around the half way point at 9.50 tonight
