Weeks 35 & 36 - US Open - Flushing Meadows, New York City (hard) - DOUBLES

Julian and Robert just cannot get that breakthrough in the Grand Slams, just 2 wins this year.

All 3 pairs left have a pretty decent shot at the last 8, Id say.

I wonder if this might cause the end of Julian and Ron's partnership. They seem to be doing well in 250's but can't progress through the bigger tournaments and really, that's what matters most.

It's a weird one. Julian and Robert have had some good wins this year - and an impressive first round win - but that was certainly an opportunity lost.

On their day they're brilliant to watch it just seems that when there's that big opportunity then it doesn't quite come home. Watched their match live at Wimbledon against the Frenchmen and once again, just seemed a bit stale! Hopefully they can start to get a few more results in slams going forwards. They're still on the up ranking wise so maybe there is still good time to figure out how to do it!

(Realised I spelt Rob as Ron! Whoops..)

Quality last 16.

13 of the 16 seeded pairs are through including the top 8. The rop 18 players in the live race are there.

Yes, pity Julian & Rob couldn't get the win against Boyer & Nava who had beaten (9] Gonzalez & Roger-Vasselin in R1.

And none of the 3 British players in action today, presumably all will be tomorrow - there are 4 matches of the 8 being played but they dont seem to be playing one half of the draw today, another tomorrow.

That has to be the worst I've ever seen both of them play. Like they wanted to be anywhere other than on court!

Welcome to the board, LPats.  Are you perchance related to Henry?

Just Neal left now. That fell apart quite quickly. And Joe and Rajeev dont get to four-peat.

Thanks for the welcome!

I've enjoyed reading through this forum (for all the brit updates) for a couple of years now. Thought I'd actually get around to creating an account and commenting on some of them!

i do also happen to be related to Henry, which made today's match particularly unenjoyable..
