I'd say an extremely friendly draw for Tara+ for a Slam, looking at these near CH rankings for a pair in their mid 20s.
Not of course saying they will win but really couldn't have asked for much better.
I agree that it is a good draw - but I was comparing the US pair to some of our players. Both the US girls have been winning titles at levels up to W75 this year (although not playing as a pair as far as I can see). However they played together for NC State so have plenty of experience outside the tour.
Anna and Alana were the #2 US College doubles team in 2020. Alana has been pro for 1 year and Anna for 3 years. They are the only 2 with more doubles wins for NC State University (women) than Millie Rajecki - 157 for Anna and 120 for Alana - and they were the pair that Millie defeated when she won her W80 last autumn.
Asia and Hev making a meal of this. Save two set points and take the opener 7-5, then miss points for *5-2 and 5-3* in the second. Get broken, break again to serve for it at *6-5, but are broken.
I got really drawn into Maia's match, which I joined in the 2nd set. Maia was, in my opinion the best player on the court right up until the last 2 or 3 games when nerves got the better of her and fortunately her partner, Siskova, steadied the ship whereas earlier she had seemed the less useful player. Uliimatelhy they were a great team and it was a great win. So happy for Maia whom I remember getting excited about when she was a very young junior ,,,, 10 years old I believe !! She is a great player now if she can just get those nerves under control, but totally understandable at such a big tournament,. Well done both.
