CD Goes To Bonnie Scotland !

Not sure if you drove, flew or trained up from London, CD. The train north of Newcastle into Scotland is one of the best train routes, particularly along the coast past Berwick and the borders; the drive over the borders through to Jedburgh is probably my favourite drive in the whole UK- whichever route, its beautiful. We are in fact heading back to the UK tomorrow from a week in Madeira. Im working in Swindon Tuesday, London Thursday and then we are taking my daughter back to Edinburgh at the weekend for her final year at Uni and spending Saturday night there. If we can find a hotel! (She then flies to Iceland for 2 weeks on sept 2nd as part of her geography degree, doing stuff with rocks and geology, i know not what!

Anyway , may pass you on the way down!

Jon, the Edinburgh Festival finishes this weekend so that should make the streets and hotels rather less busy.

Ive just booked a Novotel near the Gyle area on Booking.com as prices were still quite high! But managed to get sorted, city centre ones were still pricey for next weekend!

Final year has come around quickly! Especially as she didn't like it at first. Pleased for her (and you)

I hope Scotland is treating you and your friend well, CD. I hope you don't leave it another long time before coming back.

 I fly up tomorrow, Blue_Belle

My train back has just been cancelled so I might not actually be GOING back biggrin

I'm scrabbling to find a new train as the day after I get back, in theory, I've got a houseful of family

But my son has a key - I could tell them to all sort themselves out coz I'm stuck in Scotland !!!

Is that OK???

Yours truly has climbed a corbett

And utterly beautiful it was too, with stunning countryside, and views, and sunshine !)

Although SO windy that on the really steep, stony bits (which wasnearly all of it!) you had to dig your poles in, and bend over double, and at the top we were told to link arms

And i now know about corbetts, and cairns, and corries - it's a whole different language

My goodness, you've gone native - did you catch sight of any wild haggis?

Just wait until they introduce you to Munros!

I thought the wild haggis season was over pretty much, they start hibernating about the time the Americans come over for the Fringe, to avoid being spotted

Im in Edinburgh today, weather is beautiful. Got to hotel and got told we had been selected as guests of the day - so various things including a free upgrade to the executive suite. Its a Novotel on a business park but we have a balcony and a lovely view  over to the KFC and Krispy Kreme! But still, the room is actually v nice and we get free drinks, free breakfast and parking as well! Nice surprise!

not that we are here for a holiday, but still
