Weeks 35 & 36 - US Open - Flushing Meadows, New York City (hard) - main draw

Dan got there in the end and thoroughly deserved to win that first set .

From that early *0-3 deficit, Dan takes the first set 6-4

Well done Dan, 6 out of 7 games. Keep it going.

Dan slips down an early break in set two. An hour into the match, if this goes beyond three sets, Dan may start to feel it.

Second set similar to the first and Dan is now 5-3 ahead, with a break

Meanwhile, Diallo is serving to beat Arthur Fils in 4 sets, Diallo is a player I rate as some may know, and qualified, then beat Munar. A win will take him to live 103

I can't believe what I'm seeing here. It's not like Navone is playing badly or is being swept aside by Dan's rejuvenated self-belief. He's giving Dan nothing. Dan is having to work for everything he's getting on that court.

The commentary keep going on about Dan possibly hitting a physical wall given the five and a half hour record breaking match two days ago. I really hope that he doesn't. I really hope that doesn't happen.

Excellent stuff Dan. Needed to do it in 3 and he did.

So glad to be proved wrong here. There was no way I thought Dan could win tonight. He's not won back to back ATP level matches all year and then he comes and blows Navone away in straight sets. Brilliant. Just brilliant.

Fantastic win for Dan .

Hes a joy to watch and what a superb effort after that first round match . Its a shame hes got such a tough 3rd round match to come against De Minaur .

He certainly deserved a kinder draw .

The cooler conditions will help Evo. On balance, I think he will win. With his slice, Navone wont like it and if Evo can get to the net, he can win this in straight sets.

But hell probably lose in 5 now!

Not sure if he did what I said but straight sets it was !
