Am hoping Dan doesn't regret missing 5 set points in the first set. Isn't that what happened in Melbourne?

Evo is over 3 hours and not completed 3 sets yet. I heard it was hot out there - Nishioka collapsed yesterday

BbC Weather showing the current New York temperature as 29C with it due to be 34C tomorrow.

Dan saves a SP and takes it into a third TB.

Dan wins third set tie break.

I think it's a crossroads match for DE because if he loses this game he drops out of the top 200 which makes a difference to the level of invitations he gets.

re the invitations he gets - what rule is that around top 200?

You know there's no rule like that Jon but the points Dan would earn for winning a grand slam match would make a big difference to his ranking and ranking's do affect invitations.

Ok, thought I was maybe missing something! You mean getting into decent level entry lists (I wasnt sure if invitation meant sponsors invitations or wild cards!) - got it, yes. And outside top 200 would be a real blow personally, I think.

Break down fourth now and match over 4 hours - could go 5 hours if it goes to a fifth set

Dan is in danger of dropping to Challenger level and at 34 yo is there any way back for him?

Two sets all.

Yes, I was a bit lost at the invitations reference. Not sure about WCs outside the UK whether he's in the top 200 or not.

I think he will give it a go a Challenger level and/or tour qualifying if he has to.
