The article states that Olga now has British citizenship so that shouldnt be a problem. I would suspect at 75 she doesnt want to travel. I did spit her in Harriets box during Wimbledon.
Olga has been based in Britain since the early 90s when she started working with British juniors. Her daughter, who was a talented junior, also grew up here.
R1:- Emma Raducanu (GBR) WR71l ost to Sofia Kenin (USA) WR55 1-6 6-3 4-6
Ms. Raducanu lost to a higher ranked player. Looking at the stats, Ms. Raducanu second serve was slaughtered and Ms. Kenin was the more aggressive player.
Only her team will know why she hasn't played since Washington, but it does look like a strange decision.
She explained in her pre-tournament press conference why she hasn't played since Washington.
"I really wanted to play in Toronto, especially because I was born there, but the turnaround was too tight for qualifying. I would have had to play on Sunday and I finished [in Washington] late Friday night, so flying there and adjusting I just felt was too tight"
Fair enough.
"[On not playing Cinci] It was just that I would have pretty much had to wait around just for one tournament in qualies and then another week off before the US Open - so I think it was a better decision we all made to just go back and work on things there."
Hmmm....
I worry when I see her getting visibly upset in a press conference. It shows she cares and its good she can show her emotions but its tough.
Despite serving for the first set twice and having 5 set points in the tiebreak Harriet loses the set 12-10 in the breaker - standard of play in the last few games has left a lot to be desired (full of doubles on key points and bad errors)
She lost her last 8 service points in the breaker. The double fault at *7-6 was the killer. Although Kostyuk was diabolical too. Both very tight and struggling in the heat.

One of the worst sets of tennis Ive ever seen . Dreadful quality and Dart should have won that even though shes playing poorly . Kostyuk must think Christmas has come early .
Darts serving has been woeful, Kostyuk not much better .
Cant see Dart recovering from throwing away that set . Kostyuk must surely play better now .

To be fair the heat looks punishing out there, it's 4 in the afternoon in New York and in the early 90's temperature wise and you can see from Harriet's pallor that her body is under extreme stress.
Yes Harriet only had two chances to serve for the set because Kostyuk handed her both breaks. So while she definitely wasted her opportunities a lot of them she didn't actually create, if that makes sense. Marta hit a double at 7-8* and 9-10*

The fact is that peak Marta is better than peak Harriet. But still a shame not to have taken one of those set points which would have made the rest of the match very interesting.
