Is Emma even in New York. I wouldn't be hugely surprised if she withdrew.
Emma had her first practice session at Flushing meadows last Wednesday. She has had one or more practice sessions on the following days including match ups against Errani and also her good friend Anismova who reached her first WTA1000 final in Toronto a couple of weeks ago. She is looking very good so far. So maybe worth checking her Insta feed, which is the best way to keep up tp date with her progress.

Emma is also down to practice today on court 11 12pm NY time, but not sure if that court is televised.

In terms of tennis Emma and Anisimova go well together. Both have or had huge potential yet often appear not too interested in a serious career in the sport.
Emma has a tough first round. Kenin has been on poor form but is very capable of stepping up and Emma is seriously undercooked in match time. Even if she wins that round she won't get anywhere near beating Pegula.
I think Katie B will get to round 3 and has a chance against Pegula but will be tough.

I think thats maybe a bit harsh. Its They both seem pretty astute to me getting the most they can from tennis in the twenty first century. They may never be an Iga, but who cares they are great and millions love them as they are. Emma has a free swing in the Open. No pressure which is when she is at her most dangerous. I will be rooting for her.

The quotes are a bit wonky but I find the comment about Anisimova to be quite gross. I guess whoever actually wrote it doesn't know that her coach/father died suddenly when she was a teenager. She then understandably had some mental health issues in what is a very tough sport. They are both young women still.

I was about to say the same thing. Been following Amanda since she was 15 and I was watching her in a USA clay court challenger and saw soooo much potential.
Shes already been to a grand slam SF. When Kenin won the Aus open I think even the Americans were surprised and expected Amanda to have that success.
Via Tennis Forum I saw that Emma was criticised for not hanging around after her practice session but I just saw this, which appears to be from her official twitter - "to the little girl far up in the stands who said I was her favourite player at this mornings practice, I heard you and it made my heart smile. Im very sorry I had to rush off after practice and I couldnt see you near the court but please forgive me and I hope to find a way to meet you or arrange a signed something or photo". Nice eh?
