Good grief what a horror show from Boulter . The Spaniard clearly very nervous , then Katie decides to donate the last two games on a plate after coming to back to 5-5 .
She had the momentum and at that point youd think shes going to go and win the set now and likely the match .
Let's hope Jack comes through or I think all British interest will be at an end (because with the best will in the world I can't see Dan doing it again).
Its Evo. You can never count him out until the last point!

There is must be the record for the shortest match of the tournament when Ka. Pliskova retired to Paolini after 3 points with an ankle injury. That was for one that actually started as the 2022 Wimbledon Champion Rybakina has given a walk over in the 2nd round to French qualifier Jessika Ponchet.

Wimbledon finalists of recent times not doing very well. Krejcikova lost in the 2nd round, Vondrousova and Jabeur never started ,Rybakina pulled out before her 2nd round match and Pliskova retired early in her 2nd round match against the only other active Wimbledon finalist of the last 4 Wimbledons Jasmine Paolini.

Apparently shortest ever is a mens match in the 70s/80s that lasted one point after the player ran out wide to get the ball, collided with side boards and broke their leg!

Interested to catch up on all the chat re wild cards / player opportunities. I don't think British players could ever consider themselves disadvantaged. Sure players in Italy don't have to leave their home in the same way Spanish players didn't in the past, but plenty of opportunities and funding compared with most countries.
And I agree with Coup Droit: ridiculous that there are Wimbledon doubles wild cards (and qualifying wild cards) left unused.

Mentally that was an absolutely dreadful show .
A shame to see Katie go out in such fashion, but I doubt she'll get even a tenth of the horrid criticism Emma has received for her loss including this spiteful article in the Mail.

The draw is working out well for Caroline Wozniacki who plays Ponchet next. Not such luck for Naomi Osaka who lost to Muchova.

Hmm, Katie really been struggling for form since and wincluding Wimbledon. Has had nice draws all over the place but hasnt been able to take advantage.
To be fair she's barely played since Wimbledon because of the Olympics (I won't count that!), and Toronto was fine, she's barely dropped points this quarter it seems. It's just she's not pushing on further and taking advantage where she can. I suspect there's a bit of a confidence wobble.
There's a much better article on Emma in the Telegraph from Simon Briggs, which while harsh I think is very fair and an accurate reflection of where things are and where problems sit.
