Being a far smaller country, but with the same standard Grand Skam, I don't think GB can guarantee MD places to our U18 winners
However, USTA have also given Iva and other top youngsters main draw wcs into doubles, and mixed doubles
And, that, I think the AELTC should do, and they don't
I especially hate to see unused wildcards for doubles
I suppose that might be the next best option CD. Just thinking our young players might be disadvantaged compared to other global juniors. Having said that, they need to be ready to take the opportunity.
That said, our youngsters get more opps, I imagine than most countries outside maybe the other slam nations and Italy or Spain. Hard to imagine their senior playing opportunities are less than most other countries outside the big few!
Yes agree JonH. Takes a lot of W35s et al though to make a mark.
As in any career I am a big advocate of working your way up. It doesn't take long in the grand scheme of things if you're a top player. It's nice to have a couple of WC to experience top level play and test yourself, but just throwing younger players in at the deep end is not always beneficial for their confidence or their ability to develop the dedication, fortitude and resilience required to keep yourself at the top.
Terrible, constantly backing off after creating the chance. Losing focus at important times. Handing an opponent the belief they can win when it should have been all over in 80mins.
Hope she can turn this one round too but very unimpressed with the lack of 'killer instinct ' if that's the right phrase?!
Let's hope Jack comes through or I think all British interest will be at an end (because with the best will in the world I can't see Dan doing it again).
