FQR:  Jan Choinski WR 280 defeated Maxime Cressy (USA) WR 161 by 6-0 6-7(5) 7-6(12-10)  biggrin 

That was a really hard-fought tie-break in the decider.  With all due respect to Jan, he was the last player, after Oliver, in our group of aspiring qualifiers whom I expected to make it through!    biggrin

What a fantastic win, from someone I really didn't expect to qualify. It's the first time he has qualified for a slam and he is the 8th GB man to qualify at the US Open in the last quarter of a century:

2024 Jan Choinski
2017 Cameron Norrie
2013 Dan Evans
2006 Josh Goodall (the last British man or woman to qualify at Wimbledon & the US Open in the same year - sadly he still is after Sonay's loss today)
2005 Andy Murray
2004 Alex Bogdanovic
2000 Jamie Delgado & Barry Cowan

For comparison, British women have qualified 10 times in the same period, nobody between 1999-2010, 10 from 2011 onwards, including of course 3 in 2021.
