Jake of course won in 3 sets in Nottingham just a few weeks back. Suspect it will be close.

That may explain him losing the first set 6-1.  But he has countered to 3-0 in the second.

Liam doing well up 5-2

Jake apparently has a wrist issue which meant he couldnt hit his forehand or serve so hard and found it difficult to change grip to the backhand. Shame but maybe resting it will be best in the long run

Shame. Time to get behind Paul now, big opportunity for him!

Pity though I unashamedly made a decent bet that Paul would win the second set when he was down early on, just on the info that Jake looked injured.

Maybe though for Paul a bit concerning that that second set was so close if Jake was fairly impeded.

That's a shame for Jake, but the chance to get some rest is probably a good thing. Plenty of years for him to get into the main draw, especially if he doesn't mess up his wrist entirely by playing when it's not quite right.

And well done, Paul. Good luck to him with the rest of qualifying.

Wrist injuries can be career ending so you don't want to be mucking about with them.

Liam went down on two tight sets. Hope he finds a way to get his game back in the last part of the season. Been a long while out with the injury and struggling to get the wins
