Darn, I did my quiet edit to replace Heather too late.

Nick seems like a good partner for Harriet!

The first set was 6-1, but actually 25 points to 19 with every game bar one going to 40-30 or deciding point.
Second set is 1-1

Might have been Perez's outfit that took some getting used to.

Talking of good partners, I wonder if there's a chance Melichar might still be injured at the US Open and Harriet gets to play with Perez there too.

Olivia won. Her first win at a Masters 1000?

I think that it is only her second match at a 1000 event - the previous one being last week in Toronto. But she has had one or two slam wins  biggrin

And takes her to British number 1?!

Yes, to live GB #1. Though Harriet could overtake her if she were to reach the final here

Ah, my focus was all Heather not being there - I forgot about Harriet maybe winning a W1000 title! Dang!

2 more wins for Harriet to have a W1000 doubles title and be GB #1

Quarter finals shaping up. Katie B has dropped a place in the live rankings, now currently at 32, but if Taylor Townsend loses then Katie will definitely secure a seeding for the USO (Townsend currently down a set and a break to Pegula, so looking likely).

Always the chance of a high end withdrawal or two of course, and depending on the draw, in some cases it might work out better not being seeded, but I think you'd generally prefer to have that extra protection if you can get it.

Vondrousova has withdrawn so Katie will be seeded at the US open

SF:- Harriet Dart (GBR) / Ellen Perez (AUS) CR104 (95+9) v Asia Muhammad (USA) / Erin Routcliffe (NZL) CR25 (24+1) [3]

Asia and Erin are the only seeds left in the draw after Paoline/Errani, SIniakova/Townshend and Schuurs/Stefani all lost in MTB's in the QF's.
