Mimi was a break down, as Tessah served for the second set
But it went to a TB
Mimi was 4-2 up (maybe even 4-1?)
And then reverted to trying a drop shot, coming to the net but losing her bottle at the last minute, ending up with a little bunt over.... basically just a couple of really poor shot selections, as opposed to carrying on with what was working
If Mimi wins the final I think she will move above Hannah in the rankings.
Not sure. Hannah at 525, Mimi live at 596. Maybe. Anyway great win, ground it out and as others have said more aggressive third set from Mimi. Bound to be close match as they are closely ranked, but Tessas has 9 years more experience, so good win.
Hannah on 94 points with 4 to add from here.
Mimi on 72 points with 23 to add from here from reaching the final - just misses out, but taking the title would be enough.

It makes for interesting rivalry between our top two juniors, though Mimi is a bit over a year older than Hannah. Both should be closing in on the top 100 before too long. The two youngest players in the top 100 at present Andreeva and Fruhvirtova are both about 6 months older than Mimi and nearly two years older than Hannah.
Although Mimi has the tools she does not believe in herself as yet. She was lucky that her opponent was not able to take advantage of her vulnerability.
It will take a while for her to be ''closing in on the top 100''.
Andreeva broke into the top 500 in August 2022 at the age of 15 and made the top 100 in July last year.
Brenda Fruhvirtova made the top 500 in May 2022 (also at 15) but didn't make the top 100 until Jan this year
Her older sister Linda had a similar rise but two years earlier as she is two years older.
Hannah and Mimi are close to them all at the corresponding age, so hopefully they can follow the same path.
Yes, top 100 I do feel will be years yet, if at all, for both Hannah and Mimi but that's fine for now. Andreeva and Fruhvirtova may be not too much older than Mimi but they are very high bars.
FWIW both our girls are for now closing in on the top 500 ( Mimi will be into the top 500 if she wins the final ) and it's still very much about development in these tournaments that they can play in, particularly with Hannah.
Again FWIW they are globally ranking U17 #3 and #4 with Hannah U16 #1 but so many different paths being taken by players around the world at these ages. Generally tennis stats do interest me a lot but at younger ages, particularly below 17, I look on more as mildly interesting / encouraging conparisons and am more interested in just how they are playing and developing.
