Good win for Billy - phone call to Jake now?!

As long as Jake's forgiven him for Eastbourne I suppose wink

Well done Billy - hadn't expected him to repeat his Nottingham win over Fonseca on a hard court.

At the risk of sounding incredibly foolish I think the majority of the previous match was played on indoor hard due to rain, so the previous result was still relevant. Might be talking out of my bottom mind.

Actually, I think you might be right.

Billy trailing 2-4* overnight, looks like rain may have delayed play.

Billy sure picked the toughest of the Challengers this week. Obviously the surface and the upcoming US Open is the reason why, but if he were chasing points ....

This weeks events and the ranking of the 8th seed

Cary (100) Ranking 112
Santo Dom (125) Ranking 183
Poland (75) Ranking 234
Italy (75) Ranking 261

Billy is seeded in any other of the events and top seed in Italy.

Still think he made the right choice though.

What's funny about that is that the subject line isn't the name of the tournament. It's now called the Cary Tennis Classic.

I used it because that's what the ATP site was calling it when the draw was first put up.  I've just checked it again & I see that it's actually been amended, though the address of the official web site is still www.atlantictirechampionships.com!  no  Subject line now duly amended.

Eubanks served for the first set at 5-3

Got broken

Billy was 4-2 up in the TB

And lost a really important point when Eubnaks got a dead let cord

And ended up losing the first set

Just been announced that Eubanks has a wildcard for the US Open main draw

Maybe he'd like to go and celebrate that, and leave this match to Billy? Just a suggestion, Chris ....

Well, I might be more prescient than I think

Eubanks had a MP in the TB

But Billy hung tough - and managed to take it on 7-6(6)
