The under 14 world finals start tomorrow in the Czech Republic, with like last year both our teams qualifying. The boys team (Eric Lorimer, Niall Pickerd-Barua and Scott Watson) are seeded 3, in a round robin group with Japan, Canada and Netherlands. They play Netherlands tomorrow.
The girls team (Damiella Britton, Megan Knight and Liv Zingg) are unseeded in a group with Austria (who beat us in European qualifying) Paraguay and Argentina. Tomorrow we play Paraguay.
Scores may be available here or via a link from the ITF website
Daniella Britton d. Valeria Santander 6-1 6-3 Megan Knight d. Zoe Doldan 4-6 6-4 7-5 Britton/Zingg d. Santander/Acosta Rodriguez 6-3 6-0
Note that the ITF has the score the other way round (and different Paraguay team) to the live scores. In the other match in the group third seeds Austria easily beat Argentina (2-1 but they only conceded 4 games in the two singles matches. Their number 1 Anna Pircher has already reached a J200 semi and easily beat Megan when they played in qualifying)
Four courts have live streaming which you can access from the live scores page in the top post or via Youtube
We play Argentina tomorrow - I don't think either of our teams are on a streamed court
A comfortable second victory for the boys, against a nation who were depleted, as one of their players retired from singles yesterday. In the other match seeded Japan lost to the Netherlands, so there is a possibility of a 3 way tie for first should Japan beat us tomorrow, but I think our sets and games record would still guarantee us a top 2 finish to make the quarters (the top teams each play a nation who finishing second in another group in the quarters)
Boys Round Robin Group C
(3)GBR 3 Canada 0
Scott Watson beat Julian Mahdavi 6-0 6-0
Eric Lorimer beat Callum Mackinnon 6-1 1-6 6-1
Pickerd-Barua/Watson beat Mackinnon/Vicol 6-3 7-5
A comfortable victory for the girls, coupled with one for Austria ensures that those two teams will be in the quarter-finals. They play each other again tomorrow (Austria winning in European qualifying) to decide the group winner.
Just found this thread, the girls seem to have done well to beat a seeded nations and progress - on face value , a really good effort. Maybe the seedings dont mean much here?!

Megan's loss was to Anna Pircher who is a very strong 2010 player, and was only 6-4 7-5
Dani lost 6-4 6-3, against Haider-Maurer, which is a decent score too
And this match was only for seedings in the finals stage, so nothing much matters
Except group winners avoid other group winners so a tougher quarterfinal. I wonder if Haider-Maurer is the daughter of former Austrian Davis Cup player Andreas Haider-Maurer.
