Does the WTA have its own live rankings yet , on their website - like the ATP do? I use live tennis.eu as I find it easier to use and read but presumably any official website live rankings would be the correct version of the truth? Or is that naive of me!?

Of course not. It's the WTA. They're more interested in giving you the Race to Saudi standings than the actual rankings.

Didnt Haddad-Maia have a drugs related ban at some point in the past,  think that is what he is referring to

Haddad Maia was suspended in July 2019 for a contaminated supplement but allowed back in May 2020, just in time for Covid to halt tennis.

Her last match before her suspension which lasted a year was when Harriet defeated at Wimbledon 2019.

Katie now live-ranked at 30, with only Mertens able to overtake her.

Do you know, Id never ever heard of Shnaider until playing Harriet! Not even at the Olympics - how on earth did she get to the top 20 and Ive never heard of her? Living under a rock !

She's now beaten Coco Gauff to reach the quarter finals. Seemingly it is the first time that Coco has been beaten by a younger player on the WTA tour.

My personal gripe is that the Race to Saudi only includes WTA events, so you don't get a true sense of the calendar year performance of lower ranked players.

With the focus even by media on Live Rankings, it feels that any ranking is so fleeting that it cannot be enjoyed.

That's a hell of an effort by Shnaider who was still playing the Olympic women's doubles final in Paris on Sunday.

If we're going to refer to Haddad-Maia as a drug cheat, then do we have to the same to Dan Evans. I mean we're not talking Lance Armstrong here...

Yes, Dan and Beatriz both failed drugs tests

BUT Haddad-Maia tested positive for SARMs (basically steroids)

That's a performance-enhancing drug

Dan took a recreational drug that has zero effect on tennis, tennis training or anything to do with tennis

Yes theres drugs and then theres drugs

Anyway apparently a respectable performance aside from the scoreline, Sabs took all 3 of her break points and saved all 8 of Katies!

Agreed, CD. Theres a drugs cheat and a drug taker. Dan was the latter.

And Tara Moore. Both Haddad-Maia and Moore were banned for something that they ate.
