Week 32 - ITF M25 - Roehampton, Great Britain (hard)

JoMo and Henry looked like it lived up to billing, well done JoMo on the win.

Arthur v George in last 16 is similarly interesting as a match up. Lets see if George can continue his form.

Had a really good day at Roehampton today and was enjoyable as a first time visit to the NTC. I watched Jo Monday vs Henry Searle and what a game this was! Very close contest and Jo the deserved winner who can really hit the ball hard and has a great serve. he overpowered Henry at times and held his nerve. Really impressive from him. Nice to see Henry live as have been wanting to for a while but he just made a few too many cheap errors on his forehand and couldn't sustain rallies as well. Was also struggling a bit with first serve but to be honest he was playing a high calibre player and imo this should have been a quarter or semi final really! Ben Gusic Wan got an excellent win over a player who I have only heard of and not seen Max Benaim. Great movement and energy coming from Ben's side and had the more 'go' of the two. Good mover and despite his smaller size and younger age can really live with the adult players! He really stepped up and took his chance! Finally my highlight was being able to watch Mark Ceban who I have been following closely for a year or so. He really delivered despite losing he took the match to 3 sets. He was 2-0 down in second set but clawed his way back and held tough. Unfortunately he had a slight wobble at start of 3rd set and couldn't get back in to the match but for his first pro adult event he can be proud! He is only 15 which is so impressive. Him and Hannah Klugman could be future stars of the game imo and they're both from GB. Also I'm thinking he might get another WC to aldershot next week as he is rapidly rising :)

So glad you had a good time, Oscar

It's a lovely setting there, too, a lot of money spent on landscaping etc, and very good viewing

(And they used to have the world's worst chefs/catering people - utterly dreadful - I once saw a Brazilian player walk round and round, at least four times, not finding anything at all she fancied eating, the look on her face was comical - and she wasn't wrong. But this was a while back and they've been replaced and now it's very good)

Glad to provide some background to the tennis rather than just livescores as that often doesn't give the whole story.

I am still following the way Emile is progressing carefully up the rankings. How far is he off the top 500, points wise (ie does he really need to win an M25 or would a couple of semis suffice)?
