RE: Sir Andy Murray August 2024 Player of the Month Award - Nominations thread

1. Andy Murray and Dan Evans - For bringing Andys fantastic career to an end in style. 2 great come from behind wins including that come back from 4-9 down in the first round match tiebreak. Fighting spirit that epitomised Andys entire career. Would have been nice for them to get a medal but Fritz and Paul was always likely to be a match too far. But Andys reaction after the 2 wins showed how much this meant to him.

2. Emma Raducanu - for staying strong and sticking with what she knew was best for her. She has already reached the quarters in Washington and her ranking is speeding up in the right direction. She will no longer need wildcards for most tournaments, and on top of which it's a pleasure to watch her play so tenaciously and with glimpses off her star qualities to thrill us,

3. George Loffhagen - for winning the title in Roehampton - beat the top seed and two other seeds in the process.

4. Rosie Cho - born 2010 - for winning the J30 singles title in Bradfield

5. Girls U16 European Summer Cup Team - who won the event - the first time ever for GBR - Hannah Klugman, Mika Stojsavljevic and Hollie Smart

6. Jacob Fearnley - for beating top seed Chris Eubanks in the Lincoln Challenger and provisionally sneaking into the top 200 for what would be the first time

7. Sonay Kartal for winning back to back W35s in Roehampton.

8. Annabel Wong - born 2010 - for winning the J30 singles title at Bradfield 2

9. Alice Gillan for winning the W15 in Dublin. Only her second career title (first in 2019). Should be a CH.

Just over a week left for August nominations; remember, this period covers the US qualies next week and closes Sunday 25th. Looking back on August 2023, its amazing what a month of success that was for senior British players, culminating with Lily at the us qualies

britishtennis.activeboard.com/t69705777/august-2023-player-of-the-month-nominations/

Lets hope the next week produces some memorable results as well!

This week is producing some good candidates but as they are still playing it is perhaps too early to nominate. Jack is one and either Harriet or Olivia will be on the list.

Is the Harriet v Olivia showdown tonight? Who do you fancy for the win?

According to TNNS it is scheduled for first match on Court 7 at 12pm local, 5pm our time. TNNS predict Dart/Perez at 63% but I'm not so sure. Liv and Tereza have become a very good pair so this match is in the balance. Perez may hold the key as the highest ranked player, but Harriet needs to up her serving - missed a lot of first serves towards the end of yesterday's match.
