We arent even in the actual month of August, so a lot could happen! Katie and Heather are still in the Olympics and there is a lot of US Hardcourt tennis to go. A lot can happen!

PLUS - no one has actually nominated Dan and Andy which would be a starting point in due course!

Andy Murray and Dan Evans. For bringing Andys fantastic career to an end in style. 2 great come from behind wins including that come back from 4-9 down in the first round match tiebreak. Fighting spirit that epitomised Andys entire career. Would have been nice for them to get a medal but Fritz and Paul was always likely to be a match too far. But Andys reaction after the 2 wins showed how much this meant to him.

I nominate Emma, even if she doesn't get any further in Washington I think she has done really well to get herself up in the rankings and stay well, so far.

Thanks Julia - if youre able , would you be able to add it with the narrative youd like to use - just take the last entry above that I posted, quote it so it creates a new post and then add in Emma as nomination number 2 and the supporting words youd like to use? Let me know if thats not something youre easy with and I can do it but, either way, let us know the supporting words youd like to use and we can get her there

2. Emma Raducanu - even if she doesn't get any further in Washington she has done really well to get herself up in the rankings and stay well, so far.

Julia, I added Emma in but it feels like we could say something more compelling!! I am not following her and what she has done in Washington so not sure I can write anything that bolsters her case, but if you are anyone else wish to have a go...!

2.Emma Raducanu, for staying strong  and sticking with what she knew was best for her.   She has already reached the quarters in Washington and her ranking is speeding up in the right direction. She will no longer need wildcards for most tournaments, and on top of which it's a pleasure  to watch  her play so  tenaciously  and with glimpses off her star qualities to thrill us,

1 week out of 4 over and the Olympics was a quiet time for British tennis it feels. Hopefully things will pick up as we go into the run in to the US Open over the next 3 weeks.
