Super win but they are in a very tough section.

And I see Schmiedlova beat Paolini, she could end up a surprise medallist!

That would be similar to Puig and Bencic  winning. Neither of whom ever  reached a Grand Slam  singles final.  Angie Kerber's last appearance will be in the singles  and all Ukraine's hopes rest on Kostyuk.

Yeah really sad Elina isn't going to get a medal here.

Am not sure that Bencic would be too happy at being compared with Schmiedlova...

And AKS keeps going!

Superb first set from Heather and Katie, which they win 6-3.

On serve in the second but they had half a chance there at 30-15*

*1-2

Amazing. Such a tough match next against the Italians. They very nearly lost to the French in a MTB (and I'd have fancied the girls against that pairing) but I suspect will have learned their lessons.

They looked like they were having so much fun and a great atmosphere, so hopefully they can relax and enjoy. Pressure is all on their opponents.

A little off the pace today as you would expect but battling.

Real shame they missed the opportunity to level in the fourth game after breaking back. That would have given them a bit of momentum.

3-6 *0-0

The Italians look a good bet for the gold medal.
