Should be 12th.  Not sure if I have succeeded in changing the heading.

Just by the by, Hannah has entered the W35 at Aldershot using her junior accelerator programme status - she basically gets five 'freebie' entries, like wildcards, at various levels

Looking like Venus is going with Neal, then?

So I don't think Emma has a WC for Cinci as 4 have been announced.

Hannah is now in the main draw on ranking. Not sure if the entry would still count as one of her accelerator entries or she gets it back.

Ella is also into the main draw. Ogunwale, Yardley, Reayer, Simpson, Cassidy and Drakeford-Lewis are all into qualifying. Eliz and Tiffany have withdrawn.

So is Emma choosing playing no warm up matches before the US Open as opposed to playing any qualifying rounds? Quite arrogant when you see the likes of Osaka going through qualifying

I don't understand her preparation and the reasons / issues.

However,  nor do I really understand "arrogant"??

Do you really imagine she ( and her team ) would hinder her prep through some thinking that qualifying is beneath her?

She's not playing matches for some reason(s). But I honestly doubt it's relevant whether these would initially be qualifying matches.

It does look that way yes. All indications were that she was going to play Toronto but when she wasnt awarded a wild card she was AWOL. Then there was the refusal of the French Open qualifying (yes I read the excuses re grass prep etc) and now this..I was thinking under the belief she was heading down to Cincy

It's very relevant that they're qualifying matches. Whether she thinks qualifying and anything below 500 is beneath her, I don't know, but she gives a very good impression of someone who does if she doesn't. A strategy where she only plays main draw of 500 and above is bizarre given her experience and record. Sure she's a grand slam champion and noone can take that away from her, but she's done very little of note since. Training blocks only get you so far, and building up resilience in her body from injury is no bad thing, but there is no substitute for the training that one gets in match play. She needs to get real and start playing at least qualifying and 250s. She may have the ability to be a top 30 player but she is currently not and without the Grand Slam win she would never have been one in the past. So why she insists on trying to play a top 30 player's schedule is odd.

The 250 Nottingham Open says hello Lambda...
(Although I quite agree and maybe the schedule is due to managing her body?)
