Probably would have been. Trouble is a lot of other Slam matches would not. And this one still worked pretty well as it was, as did the two SFs.
Personally I'd leave both the men's at best of 5 sets throughout and the women's at best of 3 throughout. And no problem re the questioning by others about equal prize money in Slams. Equal prizemoney is fine for what are different events, to be enjoyed separately.
