 Last year it was 2 sets followed by a match tiebreak.  There are no matches on the schedule tomorrow, so they will presumably try to get 3 matches in over 2 days (I think that happened last year) but they may have to adjust the format with the rain.

 Yes - the Open du Stade Francais (category 1), but there is only one of the TE top 20 girls here (though Orange Bowl U12 winner Daniel Baranes is there, who would also be a contender for a wildcard ) .  However many of the top European girls are now playing ITFs, and may not want to play any more under 14 events.

 Thanks DavidC. I would still have thought the lure of playing at Wimbledon might attract a stronger entry on paper. But as you say, the good 14 year olds are probably thinking they are too good for U14 events (apart from Tarbes,  ITF World Junior Tennis etc).

 I don't think the other 14 year-olds really had the choice though - I'm sure lots would want to play here - but the way the 'invitations' are set up, it very strongly favours the rest of the world

Of the 8 invitations by committee, 4 went to USA/Canada, 2 to Asia, 1 to GBR and 1 to other European.

The top 20 of the WTN have 12 USA/Canada, 5 Asians and 3 Europeans
The top 20 of the UTR have 9 USA/Canada, 5 Asians, 5 Europeans and 1 South American.

 Yes, maybe, but of the 8 'earned' places, 5 of those are non-Europe (and there are ZERO for non-GB European players): 

Asian grass court tournament, Saga Club, Japan - 2

South American grass court tournament, Copa Cosat, Brazil - 2

Tennis Europe, Roehampton, UK - 1

Tennis Australia, 14u Australian Championships Wodonga Tennis Centre - 1

LTA Qualification Tournament, LTA Grade 1 East Glos, UK - 2

So, I guess my question is, why are there zero qualifying events in (non-GB) Europe, and 5 in the rest of the world? Is that because the non-GB European players are expected to come to the UK?

And, re your point as to WTN/UTR, it's a good point - but given that it's not reflected in adult tennis, maybe there's a problem with using WTN/UTR?
