Also i hadnt thought about the fact the match would have been held in the evening due to the rain delays and England match, not ideal at all.

Feels like all the anger would have been resolved with some prior communication going on and, being frank, maybe Andy should have paired initially with Heather or Katie or someone instead!

Katie didn't want to play mixed, Heather and Joe are an established pair. Andy should have stuck to singles and doubles. That doubles match was a perfect way to bow out.

I was just throwing names out there - or someone was what I really should have emphasised , if he really had wanted to play there would have been a partner out there, Brit or non Brit. But yes, in hindsight.

There is always so much drama around Andy and this retirement, bowing out with the mens doubles probably would have been ideal, as you say.

Actually it's possible to overthink it. This is no different from Andy playing with Serena back in 2019. Was a nice idea, didn't work out. Let's move on. Nothing to see here.

Judy has tweeted. I'll take her tweet at face value but there are so many cues we use to interpret what people mean that do not translate onto a tweet or comment online you'd think people would be more careful what they post and others would not be so quick to jump to offence without clarifying intent. It's a 2 way street.

For the record, that is not a dig at anyone particularly, just a general observation about SM, hence why I steer clear of most of it.  IMO SM is ruining Society.

I think the throwing the names out is interesting

(As before, I really don't care about the 'mixed dubs scandal' itself - six of one and half a dozen of the other, IMO, they deserve each other)

But what would have been REALLY good, in my view, is if he's picked someone like Ella McDonald

i.e. young up-and-coming Scottish player, who's been having a great couple of months

After all, are you picking Emma because you want to win the event? A mixed doubles? Haven't you won enough? Or because you want it to be high profile? You're Andy Murray, for goodness sake, you don't need to try hard to be high profile

CHoosing someone like Ella would have been wonderful - a boost for youngsters - a support for Scotland -  showing that mentoring, so to speak, was now more important than just winning

Emma is not being any more single minded with this than Andy deciding not to pull out of singles until the last minute and stopping someone from getting into the draw, and not getting the nice cheque that comes with it?

You can argue Andy earned that right, but Emma earned her right to prioritise her singles run. Just hope this doesnt disrupt her mindset for her singles match.

Obviously preferable if she played but the girl is made of glass and her priority should not be an exhibition with Andy Murray!

(Sorry for poor grammar, on my phone and begrudgingly watching the awful England game)

What are you talking about,  Andy's place in the singles was filled by a lucky loser, nobody missed out on a 'nice cheque'.

So the Canadian born Romanian / Chinese plyer (all facts before you start) wakes up with a sore wrist. Tell me of a tennis player who after a couple of matches at a slam does not wake up with a sore something.
You only have to look at the way she throws away people who have worked with her to see how self centred she is and to walk into Wimbledon yesterday looking so smug was jan insult to Andy. She should have been keeping her head down a little and not looking to seek so much attention, but oh no, that would take a bit of class and dignity!
I caveat this by saying that knowing what she is like I have no idea why Andy put the end of his Wimbledon career in her hands or in fact the hands of anyone playing singles.
Raducanu loves to be in control and now she has dictated the end of our one of our greatest players Wimbledon career, she'll be pleased with that on her CV, there has been no contrition or public apology from her which is bad.
I am at a loss as to why Andy did this anyway. He knew he could end things with his brother which would have been perfect, I just don't think he thought this through whilst being caught up in all the emotion.

Of course Andy thought it through - and so did his mum, and all around him

Andy did it because he also likes to be in the limelight - he wanted to possibly WIN the mixed doubles - he wanted it to be a star Andy-Emma duo

It went wrong. It's on both of them.

As above, he should have chosen Ella - she actually plays very good doubles - and it would have shown a commitment to Scotland, to future tennis, not just to newspaper headlines

Emma should never have agreed to play Mixed Doubles to begin with . Maybe she felt she couldnt turn down the invitation or didnt think shed make it to the fourth round .

Clearly this wrist problem is nonsense . She just used it as an excuse . She also should have shown a lot more contrition given the circumstances.

I dont think shes done herself any favours in the eyes of the general public. Equally some better scheduling might have helped , ordinarily doubles are last on but the club could have stuck them first on which may have meant she didnt pull out.

It is a bit of a PR mess all round! But it will go away in due course.

No one looks particularly good or innocent from it though

Yes. Someone like Ella would have been perfect, sadly too late now!
