Well, if she was she needs to take a lot more care. She knows social media as well as anyone and how things can be taken out of extent. And in general just how folk can jump on comments.

I don't think so, otherwise she'd have clarified it

As it is, I think she's suspended her account

The vile comments Emma is getting in x fired by Judy Murrays comment is awful.Emma has to put up with so much of this and I for one think she has made the right decision. It was painful watching Andy play with his brother the other night, he seemed to be in discomfort, I couldnt watch it. Someone did post that Andy should put out a statement supporting Emmas decision to put this to bed. If he doesnt then have to say the Murray family have gone down in my estimation. Sad.

Maybe one saying he respects or understands - if he doesnt support it, not sure he should say that. Agree no one should stoke it but Im sure hes probably quite angry about it, rightly or wrongly.

Yes, he's going to be very sore about it

And even Emma says her team were telling her not to say yes in the first place

So she has to own that

It's a shame

The overall thing is that her wrist is OK, of course

But this will put a little shadow on things (very temporarily)

Honestly, he should never have picked her. She is so single minded i.e. with her ruthless and foolish merry go round of coaches. Anyone could have seen this coming. That said, if it gets her another grand slam, then she has probably made the right choice. However, any other partner would have played on for Andy I suspect

I would also add, that whilst Murray has been winding down his career for a while, he is the only British male grand slam champion of our lives, and may well be the last one too. I hope not, I'm only 43, but it is very possible so he definitely deserves to go out in a way of his choosing

Emma is not being any more single minded with this than Andy deciding not to pull out of singles until the last minute and stopping someone from getting into the draw, and not getting the nice cheque that comes with it?

You can argue Andy earned that right, but Emma earned her right to prioritise her singles run. Just hope this doesnt disrupt her mindset for her singles match.

Obviously preferable if she played but the girl is made of glass and her priority should not be an exhibition with Andy Murray!

(Sorry for poor grammar, on my phone and begrudgingly watching the awful England game)

I dont agree. I think anyone still in the singles of a slam would pull out if a place in the quarters was on the line. It has happened regularly in the past. Also hit the girl when shes down. Always the way! Could say Andy should have finished it the other night. Federer I think retired with grace and Pete Sampras was most probably the one I will always remember. Just said to his opponent at the netwhen he was beaten I think on centre , that was my last match at Wimbledon. I think it was only in the post match interview that anyone knew. Real gentleman was Pete.

PS you can tell the football is bad by the number of posts on here lol.

Sampras at least got to go out in a singles match though, not sure about Federer as I know he was also injured a lot in his last couple of years on tour

It could be said that Andy should maybe have thought when he asked Emma that there was a chance if she went deep in the singles that she would pull out. If she truly has a sore wrist then why wouldn't she pull out to save herself for tomorrow and a good crack at reaching the last eight. There are many players who would pull out. Yes, it's disappointing but he got to play with his brother and got the perfect send off after that match. I hope the vile abuse for Emma stops. People should be behind her as she's a massive talent who just like Andy could go on to achieve multiple slams.
