RE: Weeks 27 & 28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - MIXED DOUBLES

Chances to reach the QF of a home Slam may not come around very often, but she'll never get another chance to play at Wimbledon with the person she's looked up to from a young age, has been her mentor and is one of the all-time greats of British Tennis. Rightly or wrongly, she'll be confident in her own ability to have many more chances of reaching the QF of Wimbledon. In any case, its just a bit of fun for them.

And its an off day in an event where the women play a best of three match every other day. Today wont be delayed by rain as it is court one, why not play it, use it as fun and practice and a distraction from more serious business. Shed take a lot more flak from the general public if she pulled out.

I wonder if Andy is fit, presumably so.

Now confirmed.  According to the Beeb, she woke up this morning feeling some stiffness in her right wrist.  Replaced by Rajeev Ram & Katie Volynets.

Probably for the best given she plays again tomorrow or Monday and has a chance of reaching the last eight.
Also Andy looked awkward in his doubles match so not sure how far these two would have gone tbh.

Murray's mother Judy, in response to a post on X from television presenter Marcus Buckland describing Raducanu's decision as "astonishing", wrote: "Yes, astonishing."

I dont want to get into it. But this was wholly predictable and I think extremely disappointing. Ill leave it there.

Good luck to Emma in the singles - I hope her stiff wrist recovers.

Actually think thats pretty grim from Judy? I have loved watching the bloke but Andy has been on a retirement tour for like 5 years now and had a send off on Thursday. Publicly criticising a 21 year old who already gets a tonne of abuse is a bit embarrassing from her. Your son is 37(?)! You dont need to defend him on twitter!

Disappointing but if Emma wins her next match, lowkey worth it

Very poor in my opinion and I can't imagine Andy would be that annoyed?

ALSO not Andy (rightfully) having a good 1/3 of his retirement montage video thing about how he stood up for female tennis players- to have his mum publicly slam a 21 year old female! Alanis Morrissette, play your song!

Just to clarify, wholly predictable and extremely disappointing that Emma withdrew?

Or that the Murrays would be upset by it?

Actually both to be honest - you could see it coming, in retrospect going together feels like it was going to end like this - i was initially excited by it.

But Im sure the Murrays saw it coming and the reaction is over the top; at the same time, Im sure Emmas wrist isnt bad or stiff at all, not to the extent she needs to pull out.

so both!

I have generally always liked Judy, and have defended her against some negative comments.

In this case Judy, just shut up.

Are we sure Judy wasn't giving a sarcastic reply to Marcus?
